Ha-ha! Sorry, had to throw that in for Lisa's sake! I know what you mean about the guys at the "counter" in the dealerships. When I told the TWO local Suzuki dealership counter folks that I wanted a set of Marauder handlebars to put on my Intruder, I was told by BOTH locations that those bars wouldn't fit my bike, no way, no how, period. One of them even told me that if I DID happen to "make" them fit, that I would have to buy new hydraulic resevoirs for both the clutch and front brake, because the ones on my stock "buckhorn" handlebars would only operate correctly at the slanted angle, not horizontaly on drag bars. I then asked him if my muffler bearings would need to be replaced too, and hung up the phone. By the way, I put the Marauder bars on, and I ain't dead yet! The only aftermarket parts place around here I like, are the same guys that have a "Dinner Run" every Wednesday night. I guess if you break bread with somebody, it's easier to get along with them 8^)
As a matter of fact, it was at their shop where I got the idea of trying the Marauder bars on my bike. The are a dealer of motocross and enduro bikes, but they always have a few used street bikes in there too. One day they had a Marauder on the foor, and I asked if I could "crawl all over it" and measure stuff to see if it would work on my Intruder. Lee (the owner) said to go right ahead! It all came together then (about the handlebars), and a few other tricks I'm keeping quiet about, saving them for a rainy day and all!
